Max Hallet HouseDesigned by Victor Horta and built between 1902 and 1905 for the lawyer and politician Max Hallet and his wife, this building marks the beginning of the Horta's more subdued style of Art Nouveau. The interior is a magical space where curves and counter-curves reflect harmoniously in splendid stained-glass windows and skylights. The grand staircase is placed at the heart of the house. Extending over two imposing flights of steps in veined white marble, it is flooded in daylight which enters via the verandah on the first landing and via a huge skylight over the second landing.
