This building's Eclectic-style facade built in 1905 gives no hint of the rich interior decorations that were added to the Aegidium during renovations in 1913, 1931, 1933, 1936 and 1956. Although films are no longer shown here and the building is awaiting restoration, it retains many precious spaces where the Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles are blended with elements taken directly from the Classical decorative vocabulary. In the cloakrooms, we are welcomed by beautiful ceramic panels depicting country scenes. We continue up a monumental staircase decorated in stucco and marbled plaster. Upstairs is a Moorish-style auditorium which is unique in Brussels.
