Adrien Blomme designed this house which was built in 1925 for his friend the brewer Léon Wielemans. Blomme's design led to his appointment as official architect to the family and their brewery, and he went on to design for them the Metropole Cinema (an extension of the family's Metropole Hotel) and a new brewery in 1929. The design of this house was influenced by a journey made by Mr & Mrs Wielemans and Blomme to the palaces of Andalusia in Spain. The Andalusian style is evident in the layout of the interior around a large patio and the interior decor which blends blue-and-white ceramic tiles and ornamental ironwork.
