Villa EmpainThis legendary villa stood empty and abandoned for many years. Now it has been painstakingly restored by the architect Francis Metzger of the Ma2 practice. It was originally designed by the Swiss architect Michel Polak and built between 1931 and 1934 for the young Baron Louis Empain. It is a worthy successor to the Austrian architect Josef Hoffmann's Stoclet Palace. The interior is laid out around a vast marble-lined hall with a glass ceiling which leads to a fabulous open-air swimming pool behind the house. Today it is used as an art gallery and events space by the Boghossian Foundation's Centre for Art and Dialogue between East and West.
