Built in 1932 to the designs of architect A. Meuleman, the building originally housed the Albert Hall cinema and the superb Roseland Ballroom. The two halls are set one above the other with internal staircases linking them. The design is a stripped-down Art Deco, with wrought-iron balustrades, gilded stucco and monumental staircases. The former cinema contains two stained-glass windows depicting Charlie Chaplin and Virginia Cherril in "City Lights". Now comprehensively renovated, the complex is used today for cultural events, private receptions and conferences.
